Grinding is the work of scraping the surface of a workpiece with particles of a grinding stone, smoothing the surface, precision finishing, sharpening a knife, etc.

Grinding is done on familiar things. For example, after welding an iron plate, it is scraped and flattened, metal chunks are scraped out to make ornaments and molds, and round bars are scraped to make the same thickness, and things that cannot be imagined are made using grinding stone, from general goods to electronic devices, from pachinko balls to tankers.

Abrasive grains are indispensable for shaving things. Each abrasive grain becomes a blade and shaves things. And when the blade wears and cannot be cut, old abrasive grains fall off and new abrasive grains come out. So the grinding stone keeps cutting.

Scraped scraps enter this hole and are discharged while the grinding stone spin. If there is no such hole, there will be no place for scraped scraps to come out, and the grinding stone will not be cut. This hole also plays a role in carrying air and cooling the grinding stone.
